Humility to Others for God

This evening Sidna mentioned that: (more)

The Grateful Husband

Some think it to be ingratitude for the first wife that causes a man to take a second. I say it behooves him to be grateful for her in all circumstances, whether she pleases him or not for...

The Tahlil in the Wird

Sidna mentioned this evening: (more)

After Him...

Shaykh Ahmad Hassanat mentioned that it is said that after Allah, Most High, spoke to Moses (upon him be peace) nothing in the world sounded pleasant to him thereafter...

Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Ani Passes on to the Next World

Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Ani returned to his Lord this morning. A radiant sun from Iraq no longer shines in this world. Allah have mercy on his merciful soul, reward him a mighty reward, and fill his grave and the lives of all his students with light.

For him and all the deceased of the Believers, al-Fatiha...

Taught Him that which He Did Not Know

Glory to the One who taught man that which he did not know.

So it is indeed; the teacher of man is One, Who created the majalis of ilm as gatherings of zikr and barakah, and the teacher for the tarbiya of the student, and the student for the teacher's increase, and study for what it perpetuates of His remembrance, Most High.

Yet to allege that the gatherings, teachers, and studies bring knowledge to the breast is ignorance itself.

The Demon's Grip...

The world of demons is part of the Unseen. Scientists say man has no natural enemies among the beasts of the earth, which makes sense since we are not from this place originally. That does not mean however that we have no "natural" enemies so to speak:

Then Satan caused them to slip therefrom and
brought them out of that they were in; and We said, 'Get you all down, each of you an enemy of each;
and in the earth a sojourn shall be yours... (Quran 2:36)

In the modern age it has become all too easy to forget this basic fact and to therefore fall into the demonic grip of our enemies in the underworld of the Unseen.

Shaykh Adib Kallas Passes...

Shaykh Adib Kallas passed on to the Next World today. Allah shower him in mercy, and reward him a mighty reward, and have mercy on those he leaves behind through his sincerity and effort.

"Indeed we are Allah's and onto Him are we returning."

For the noble Shaykh and all our deceased, al-Fatiha...

Criticism...

Sidna mentioned this evening, after the Latifiya, that the one who cannot take criticism cannot benefit from the Path; it may very well be that one is in need of it. He indicated that the fact that Allah should cause you to hear it is cause enough for pause and reflection.

We ask Allah for help and success.

The Accidental Look

Encounter with a Salafi Part II

As I had mentioned, two Jumuahs ago at Mosque Malik Abdullah (not Hussein) I was approached by a brother who (after having apparently observed me quite keenly) took objection to two matters:

1. My praying four rak'at sunnah before the fard of Jumu'ah

2. My not doing the tasbihat (33 subhan Allah, 33 al hamdu... etc.) immediately after the conclusion of the fard prayer but rather getting up to do the sunnahs after saying Allahuma anta al-salam... as is the recommended practice in the Hanafi school.

The first matter was addressed in a previous post. As for the second...

Raising the Voice in Zikr in the Masjid

The Niqab in the Hanafi School

Since the Niqab has come under the spotlight here is something on the issue from the Hanafi school (rough translation of a difficult legal text): (more)

Allah's is the Praise

Allah's is the Praise; He brings hearts together and reunites friends for His sake and their benefit.

As I Was Saying

On Friday at Mosque Malik Abdullah (not Hussein) at Jumu'ah, I was approached by a brother who (after having apparently observed me quite keenly) took objection to two matters:

1. My praying four rak'at sunnah before the fard of Jumu'ah

2. My not doing the tasbihat (33 subhan Allah, 33 al hamdu... etc.) immediately after the conclusion of the fard prayer

With regard to the first matter...

Encounter with a Salafi

I prayed Jumu'ah today at Masjid Malik Hussein Abdullah and after the four sunnah following the fard I was "amr-bil-maruf-ed" on two counts. Details in the next post insha Allah.
