A Degree Above Them 
وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيْهِنَّ دَرَجَةٌ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ...
"...but their men have a degree above them; God is All-mighty, All-wise. (Quran, Baqara:228)
In explaining this verse Imam Fakhrudin Razi asks why Allah, Mighty and Majestic would mention the degree of men above women when it is a "known" thing. After listing some eight matters in which men are superior to women begining with intellect and ending with share in war spoils he comments:
